Itinerary 15 days/14 nights:
Tashkent-Khujand-Istarafshan-Dushanbe/Iskanderkul-Saratog-Padrud-Panjakent-Samarkand-Bukhara-Khiva/Urgench-Tashkent

Day 1

Tashkent

Arrival at the airport of Tashkent. Transfer to the hotel. Leave luggage and additional breakfast. Check-in at 14:00. At 09:00 – start excursion around the city, very dynamic and modern, with its own history. Visit to Hast Imam Square, where there are Barakkhan’s medersa, Tillya Sheikh Mosque and Kaffal Ash-Shashi Mausoleum (XVI c.), walk around the biggest and most dynamic market of Uzbekistan – Chorsu. Then by Tashkent subway you will go to the city center and visit the Museum of Applied Arts. Visit to Tashkent City amusement park. Lunch and dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

Tashkent – Khujand

Breakfast. Transfer to Oybek checkpoint and to Khujand / Tajikistan (180 km. 3 hours). Hotel accommodation. Lunch. Sightseeing tour visiting Temur Malik Fortress (VI-V b.c.) – one of an impregnable fortress in Central Asia before Chinghiz Khan invasion, Khujandi Park, Mosque and Bazaar. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

Khujand – Istarafshan

Breakfast. Hotel check-out. Visiting Arbob Palace (30 min) built in 1950 on the model of Peterghof Winter Gardens. Transfer to Istarafshan village /80 km. 1h.30m./- prior province of Arab Khalifat during the years of Arabian domination. Sightseeing tour around the city visiting mosque-madrassah Kuk Gumbaz (16 c.) built by order of astronomer Mirso Ulugbek`s son , Mugh fortress-citadel of Great Kir and bazaar. Lunch, dinner. Accommodation in a hostel.

Day 4

Istarafshan – Dushanbe

Breakfast. Transfer to Dushanbe /the capital of Tajikistan/ via Aini district (Aini is known as an ancient town of Sogd civilization), Takfon village, ascend to Istiklol tunnel (5 km. distance), descend to Varzob gorge /240km. 4h.20m./.  Lunch on the way. Dushanbe city tour with a visit to Abuabdullo Rudaki Park and National Museum. Dinner. Hotel accommodation.

Day 5

Dushanbe – Iskanderkul – Saratog

Breakfast. Transfer to Varzob gorge through Istiklol tunnel and descend to Takfon village, Zarafshon, and Iskanderkul lake (140 km.). Panoramic view of the lake: Iskanderdarya waterfall (so called Fan Niagara), 5 springs, lake formation so called “Snake lake”. Then we move up to Saratog village /2500 m. above sea level/ for stay. Lunch on the way, Dinner. Accommodation in a guest house.

Day 6

Saratog

Breakfast. A walking tour day, enjoying the beauty of nature. Moving towards Saratog Gorge through the forest, reaching the Nomad Camp and stop near a birch grove. Lunch. After lunch we return to Saratog village. Dinner. Overnight in guest house.

Day 7

Saratog – Padrud

Breakfast. Transfer to Padrud village (6 hours). On the way enjoy the views of Margusor lakes spread along the river Shing at 1600 to 2400 m. above sea level: (1-Mizhgon – Lash, 2 – Soya – Shadow,    3 – Hushur – Vigilant, 4 – Nofin – Umbilical, 5 – Hurdak – Small). Lunch on the way, dinner. Overnight stay in a guest house.

Day 8

Padrud / Panjakent – Samarkand

Breakfast. Transfer to the 6th lake – Marguzor – Meadow, hike to the 7th lake Hazor Chashma – Thousand springs (3hours). Return to Padrud village and transfer to Panjakent, (3h +2h) – border town with Uzbekistan. Lunch. Sightseeing in Panjakent: excavations of ancient city Sarazm and museum. Many frescoes were found during the excavations related to Greece, Persian and Indian cultures. Crossing the border Tajikistan-Uzbekistan. Transfer to Samarkand (50 min). Dinner. Hotel accommodation.

Day 9

Samarkand

Breakfast. Sightseeing tour visiting monuments of the 14th-17th centuries: Gur-Emir Mausoleum (XIV-XV cc.), which contains the tomb of Tamerlane and relatives.                                                                                                                                  

Registan Square – the Heart of Samarkand.  The ensemble consists of three madrassahs: Mirzo Ulugbek, Sherdor and Tillya-Kori.

Mausoleum of Shahi Zinda (XII-XV cc.): one of the supposed tombs of Kusam ibn Abass (cousin of Prophet Muhammad). Bibi Khanum Mosque, a mosque built by order of Tamerlane in 1399-1404 and named after his wife. Siab Bazaar – will leave an unforgettable impression. Visit to the silk paper factory “Konigil Meros”. Lunch, dinner.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10

Samarkand – Bukhara

Breakfast. Hotel check out. Continuation of sightseeing: Mausoleum of St Daniel. According to legend, Tamerlane in his campaign in Asia Minor made a pilgrimage to the mausoleum of the saint and decided that his capital Samarkand should also be rich and prosperous and sent part of the remains of the saint with great honours  to Samarkand. Ulugbek Observatory – built by the great scientist and astronomer Mirzo Ulugbek, grandson of Amir Timur. Lunch. Transfer to Bukhara (280 km, 4.5 hours). Dinner. Hotel accommodation. 

Day 11

Bukhara

 

 

 

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Start of Bukhara sightseeing: Ismail Samani Mausoleum, built in the X century, a masterpiece of Arab geometry, including a mosque (XVIII century). Chashma Ayub Mausoleum. Bolo House complex, Visit to the majestic Ark Citadel, which was the residence of the Emir until 1920. Visit to the magnificent architectural complex Poi Kalon (XII-XVI centuries.), including the mosque Masjidi Kalon, Miri Arab Madrasah and the highest minaret of its time in the East. Visit to Ulugbek Madrasah, built by Tamerlane’s grandson in 1417, Abdul-Aziz Khan Madrasah (XVII century), Abdullah Khan Tim Madrasah (XVI century), built in 1577 and used by Afghan silk and wool traders, Visit to the 16th century covered market known as “merchant domes”. Gold embroidery, copper, blacksmith and weaving workshops are discovered during the visit. Walk around the old city of Bukhara: tour of Lyabi Hauz complex of XVI-XVII centuries with Nodir Divan-Begi Madrasah, Kukeldash Madrasah and Nodir Devon-Begi Khanaka. Lunch and dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12

Bukhara – Khiva

Breakfast. Transfer to Khiva (450-500 km.) This road passes through Kizil Kum desert (Red sand), where one can see dromedaries- single-humped camel, and feel the spirit of long caravan`s distance. Lunch on the road. 16:00/17:00 arrival to Khiva. Hotel accommodation. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13

Khiva

Breakfast. Full day sightseeing with a visit to the residence of the last Khan, including Muhammad Amin Khan’s Madrassah and Kunya-Ark Castle (XVI-XVII centuries). Uch-Avliya Mazar, which means “Three Saints” in local dialect. Minaret of Kalta Minor – turquoise walls of which are covered with ligature verses of the great Maarif and Khan. Maarif and khan mirab Muhammad Riza Agahi tower of Kalta Minor. Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrassah. Muhammad Rahim Khan was considered an enlightened monarch and patronized scholars and poets. Tash-Khovli Palace (XIX c.) – “stone palace”, the location of Khan residence and his harem. Mausoleum of Pahlavan Mahmud (XIV-XVIII cc.) – poet, folk hero who died in the first quarter of the XIV century. Around his mausoleum, a whole cemetery was created with many family tombs. Juma Mosque (X c.). – It is a unique mosque without portals and domes. Kurnich khan – where ceremonies of official receptions were held. A courtyard with one aivan covered with fabulous majolica is in the centre. Madrasah Islam Khoja (XIX century) and minaret of 45 meters high – the highest minaret of Khiva. Lunch, dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 14

Khiva / Urgench – Tashkent

Breakfast. At 07:30 – transfer Khiva – Urgench (30 km.) for flight to Tashkent, departure at 09:20, arrival at 10:40. Transfer to the hotel for baggage drop-off. Accommodation after 14:00. Continuation of the visit to religious sites: Catholic and Orthodox churches, visit to the Minor Mosque. A visit to the most beautiful subway stations. Panoramic tour of Tashkent: Independence Square, Opera and Ballet Theater Square, Amir Temur Square. Visit to Magic City amusement park. Lunch and dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 15

Tashkent

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.
